Hailing from a wonderful farm in the southeastern corner of the Dominican Republic, Café La Cotorra is currently owned by the Francisco family. When Juan, our contact, speaks about his childhood, he speaks about the farm and his grandfather’s tireless love for it. After his grandfather passed, the Francisco family worked hard to make the farm both profitable and sustainable. The Francisco family loves everything about their farm — from the local workers who spend long days on the mountain side picking coffee to ‘la cotorra’, the vulnerable parrot who finds sanctuary high in the farm’s hills. Proceeds from coffee sales go directly back the Francisco’s Dominican Republic community. When the farm does well, the community thrives. Café La Cotorra is silky and complex with natural semi-sweet to dark chocolate base notes that close with hints of lime and orange.
